The Christian Online Magazine -
We live in very difficult and uncertain times. What do we do? Who can we turn to for a refuge for our soul? The songwriter said - "When all around is sinking sand, on Christ the Solid Rock I stand! When I need a shelter, when I need a Friend, I go to the Rock!"
And that is exactly what you and I must do!
During the fearful days at the height of World War II, a busy housewife heard from God. One day in the midst of her housekeeping, the Lord dropped a comforting song in the heart of Ruth Caye Jones. Immediately she stopped her work and wrote down the words and the music to this heavenly tune. The song was entitled - "In Times Like These."
Over the years, this same song has brought comfort to so many who were facing storms of all kinds in their lives. Whether in the midst of world events that sought to shake the foundation of people's faith or in the midst of personal sorrows and tragedies, it has served to bring great comfort and hope to the people of God. This day in which we live is no exception.
Today in the midst of wars, floods, tornadoes, terrorism, pipe bombs, suicide bombings, chemical warfare, road rage, parents starving their children, implanted computer chips, preachers leaving the ministry because of immorality or lack of finances, and churches closing down because of poor attendance, God has given us a song!
Perhaps, at this moment, you are facing one of the hardest times in your personal life.
You may be -
...grieving the loss of your loved one, or shaken by the loss of your job
...in the midst of a divorce where you are facing the shattering of all your dreams of having a happy marriage and home
...battling some sickness, infirmity, or disease which seems to get the best of you at times
Or your children may be backslidden and far away from God.
Who can you turn to in times like these?
Where can you find an answer?
Who could possibly add solidity to your life?
Where can you find peace of mind?
Read the words of this inspired song and let the Holy Spirit refresh you and minister once again a heavenly perspective to your life and situation -
"In times like these you need a Savior; in times like these you need an anchor;
Be very sure, be very sure your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!
In times like these you need the Bible; in times like these O be not idle;
Be very sure, be very sure your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!
In times like these I have a Savior; in times like these I have an anchor;
I'm very sure, I'm very sure my anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!
REFRAIN:
This Rock is Jesus, yes, He's the One;
This Rock is Jesus, the only One!
Be very sure, be very sure
Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock."
Oh, Child of God!
You have a Savior!
You have an anchor!
You have the Word of God!
This day, in the face of your circumstances, cry out to the angry waves which are beating against your lifeboat. With great assurance, call out to the dark clouds and the storms that are raging in and around you. Tell them as the song instructs you to say - I'm very sure! I'm very sure! I have a Savior! I have an anchor! And my anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!
You are going to make it! You are going to make it to the other side! You may feel like you are going under the waves for the last time, but know certainly, positively, and undoubtedly that your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock! And that Rock is Jesus! Yes, He's the One! He's the Only One! He has control over the winds and the waves! He and He alone controls the storms that rage about us!
Let this Powerful Scripture from the book of Isaiah comfort your heart and soul today -
Isaiah 26:4 - "Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength."
At all times and in every place let your confidence be in the Lord Jehovah. Don't ever allow any times of calamity, adversity, persecution, poverty, trial and severe testings take your focus off of this Mighty One.
For in Him Who is, Who was, and Who is to come is found "everlasting strength." He and He alone is the Rock of Ages. He is the sure foundation for our faith. Like an Eternal Rock, He is firm and lasting. His Word is forever settled in heaven(Psalm 119:89).
Let's determine like never before that we are going to be a witness for our God today.
Let's rise up in a New Anointing of the Holy Spirit and declare to those about us -
I'm very sure! I'm very sure! My anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!
And may many souls come into the kingdom as a result of our strong witness for our God!
